How Do I Join The Committee?

WHO CAN STAND

Membership of the UKSUG Committee is open to any member with an enthusiasm for and interest in the activities and development of the group. Elections take place during the AGM, which is usually held in November during TechSelect. If you are interested in standing for election contact Sandra Devaney or complete the online form.

THE ELECTION PROCESS

A call for nominations is sent out during early October. Nominations are received during early to mid October. Voting papers are emailed to all members in late October and the election result is announced during the AGM in November. 

WHAT IS INVOLVED IN BEING A COMMITTEE MEMBER?

The main role of committee members is to be enthusiastic and interested in the activities of UKSUG, to have the commitment to see the year through and to help come up with ideas for events and speakers. 

In the general running of the group there are some policy issues which arise, but as the group has matured, these have become much less.  

Committee meetings are organised, when necessary, on the day/evening of an event, meetings in between events only happen in exceptional circumstances, most business is  conducted by telephone conference call. UKSUG employ the services of management company for the day to day running of the group.

ELECTIONS GUIDELINES

All committee posts are electable annually via an electronic voting system. The results are announced at the AGM.

Officers may not hold their post for more than 3 years consecutively, whilst committee members have no limit on service. 

Nominations for the Chair must come from the existing committee.

Ex officio non voting posts are held as follows: Secretary - Sandra Devaney and Sybase Rep - currently vacant.

Nominations are therefore invited annually for:

· Chair - from existing committee
· Vice Chair - Any UKSUG member
· Treasurer - Any UKSUG member
· 3 Ordinary Members - any UKSUG member

CONDITIONS OF NOMINATION:

All nominations should be from fully paid up members of the UKSUG.

The activities of UKSUG are governed by the constitution.
